The Bucket List Story
I grew up on the St. Johns river in Jacksonville where we always had boats. I got my first boat at the age of 10 (S.S. Mullet Head). Fishing primarily fresh and brackish water until the age of 16 where I began my ventures offshore. I started professionally fishing in Florida as a mate in 2000, and was looking into moving to Grenada around this same time to open a charter operation.
Then, my father fell ill with cancer and kept me home and eventually passed away at the age of 50. I continued fishing until 2006 when I was offered a lucrative position with Luhrs Corporation in St. Augustine. I stayed with Luhrs until the financial crisis of 2008/2009 when operations were moved to New Jersey. Of course, I continued to fish on my own, as well as private vessels while working for Penske.
I left Penske in 2014 and partnered in a custom tower and fabrication shop. In late 2016 my mother passed away after going to sleep one night and never waking up. My mother and I were very close and I didn’t take it well. She was 62 and just returned from a retirement trip for a month to Spain.
At this point I was about to turn 40 and I decided I was going to start my own fishing charters, and I was going do it in Costa Rica, one of the finest fishing destinations in the world. I wasn’t going to be caught like my parents without following a dream and passion.
So here I am. It hasn’t been the easiest transition, but I would do the same thing 100 times over!
I've scratched a big one off my own Bucket List, and I love being able to share my love for fishing with people from all over the world, helping other people with their own Bucket Lists.
